Suitcased Memorabilia: Colleen McCullough

I am not sure if it was my bookstore (Hall’s Book Store where was working) or another store around the corner in Elizabeth Street, but author Colleen McCullough AO was do signings of her new best-selling book! Somehow, and I don’t remember how, I sneaked to this signing and lined up only to be greeted by the huge and joyful presence of Colleen.

She was laughing and smiling and between these she was farting. Big time. Mini-earthquakes. The smell was ignored because she just joked about it. After all she was the hugely successful author of ‘The Thornbirds’ and no fart or laugh could diminish her book signing. She was a hoot. I still have her signed book: ‘To Rob, with best wishes, Colleen McCullough’. Colleen died in 2015. Always remembered as a hoot.
